This Might be a bit redundant as it's similar to Rate the last movie but I'm bored at work and need to post something.

This was the last DVD I bought and I can't watch it. I don't have a Blu-Ray player. My dumbass thought that dvd/blu-ray combo meant that the feature was on Blu-ray and on a dvd, not feature on Blu-ray and bonus bullshit on dvd. Godammit.

The Hobbit Extended Edition
The extended film doesn't quite have the same impact as the previous Lord of the Ring editions and that's probably because The Hobbit was already stretched out. Seeing the Dwaves skinny dipping and Smaug no longer having 4 legs did make me cringe. But the added scene of Elrond telling Gandalf that Thorin will share his fathers fate was nice.
The extensive making of features are worth the buy because you can see where the movie went wrong. Ian McKellen having a on-set nervous breakdown and Peter left speechless when Cate, Ian, and Hugo question the meaning of certain dialogue and scenes.

...and Peter left speechless when Cate, Ian, and Hugo question the meaning of certain dialogue and scenes. That's hilarious. Speaking of the Hobbit, though, once all the movies are out on video; it'd be a really fun exercise chopping them all together to make one movie out of three.

This might be a little off-topic, but I was looking at prices for Valhalla Rising on DVD and the box-art for the European release cracked me up pretty bad...

I was actually looking to grab one of these and a decent TV when I had the cash. I got a region-free player several years back when I started shopping more at HKflix (before they closed up shop) and have never looked back.

I was actually looking to grab one of these and a decent TV when I had the cash. I got a region-free player several years back when I started shopping more at HKflix (before they closed up shop) and have never looked back. Sony's are always a good choice. I just picked up a new TV and Blu-Ray Player myself, and ended up getting the Sony BDP-S3100, which is basically the model you're interested in, only it's not region free. You'll like it, as it produces a wonderful picture. Just note that the BDP-S1100e your looking at doesn't include WiFi, which is fine as long as you have an ethernet cable to hook into it. You really should connected to the internet, as firmware updates are more important for Blu-Ray than they were for DVD, and Sony is fairly regular at releasing updates that improve the functionality of the player to not only take advantage of new software on the discs, but also to give better playback functionality, the same way they do for the PS3. Plus, you'll be able to access Netflix and other online features if you connect it. By the way, if you click on the Model Numbers above, those are hyperlinks, and the model you want is on Amazon for a little cheaper. I tried to make the hyperlinks yellow like you did, but wasn't having much luck. I even changed the HTML code on the BBCode tab to match the one from your quote, and they still remain white for some reason...

Yeah, once I get the cash, I'll be sure to pick one up with Wi-Fi but region free or bust, man.

Heaven's Gate (1980) - Restored edition, Second Sight Blu-Ray
I'd heard about the film a while back, being the one that virtually closed United Artists and ruined Michael Cinimo's filmmaking career. However, I was able to see this for the first time and in it's original form (at around 3h 40mins!) during a limited run and I think, despite some flaws, it's an unforgettable and truly epic anti-western. They really don't make them like this anymore and I'd recommend it.
