On one of the other forums I post on this was really successful so I thought I'd try it here. Basically anyone who signs up will be randomly assigned a partner. Each will recommend the other person four movies and the other person will pick a film to watch. Everyone will have two weeks (or maybe three depending on if people feel two is not enough) to see one of their recommended films.
Rules: - You will have approximately 2-3 weeks to watch the movie after the partners have been randomly choosen.
- You will post FOUR movies for your partner after the partners have been choosen and they will choose ONE of them to watch. (If you want to watch more of them, go for it)
- If you've seen them all or all but one, you may request a new list.
- After you've watched it, post a review of some sort, or just what you thought of it, or a rating...some proof that you watched it.
Would anyone be interested in this? Did the way I explain the rules make sense? Please let me know.

Feel like this would work better if, every fortnight or month, the entire club watches one movie, which they then have a discussion about; as it stands, this seems less like a club, because it's being done separately, as opposed to together, which is what a club would be for.
Say, every 3 or 4 months, each member submits a list of 15 films, and then the films that get the most votes are chosen in descending order (most votes to least votes) during the period for viewing; after the period, new lists are submitted, with films already watched no longer eligible for the list. If the results of each three/four-month season is made public, no reason why people couldn't pull together for the more popular/better films.

Personally we should just do a movie night with whatever movie is on YouTube. Just go here, there's a bunch of good stuff to be found.

Voting and submitals are a bad idea for this sort of project. The whole point is to see new films and discuss it as a group experiencing it for the first time. You should generate a queue of films that are highly regarded and have not been seen by the other members. After the field has been narrowed then vote. Ideally your method would be good but I foresee a lot of Dark Knight and Fight Club in the future. As for rules I would suggest 1 movie ever two weeks 1 week to watch the movie and 1 week to discuss and decide the next film. Any longer and people will forget the film or just put it off until the end anyway.

To start, you could always check out the IFC's Der Liste: a collection of movies we've watched over the past however-long-the-chat-group-has-been-around. It's slightly organized; the worst/entertaining movies at the top in descending order, animated movies, 'real' movies, and so on and so forth. Warning: It's in the hundreds and counting (not to mention, missing a few dozen)

After Spill movie and gaming livestreams definitely wouldn't be out of the question. I already have the proper setup to do it, and have done several similar things in the past. (I used to stream horror films on /x/ all the time before it went to shit.) We'll see after the holidays, when everyone is less busy.

Another idea would be to watch whatever movie is on a TV channel.

What I would love to do is a rotating podcast. Somehow find a system to determine which three person (Skype) team goes which week. Tweak the teams based on feedback from the community. Have the subjects relating specifically towards the community issues. Cyrus hate, Brian hate, Cat hate, H.com spamming and member rivalries are examples. no more than half hour or so. The forced to watch movie idea kind of sounds like homework to me.
