Every year, there are always a few movies that I really liked that others do not. Maybe the film didn’t please the fans, or the critics found boring or bad. These are the movies that I actually enjoyed that others did not. We’re all entitled to our opinions, and these are the films I find a bit underrated from 2013.
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone
This film got bad reviews from critics and the public. I get it, it was stupid. But I actually enjoyed the movie. Alan Arkin made me like this movie. I say check it out if you’re at the video store looking for something to watch.
The Great Gatsby I love this film, I really did. Leo did a great job as Gatsby and the music in this movie kicked ass. This is one of my favorite films of the year and I highly recommend this to any fan of the book.
Man of Steel This film spilt the fans in half. Some people loved it (Like Me), others thought it was terrible. The fight scenes in this really sold it for me. Everyone played their parts well and I’m really interested to see how Man of Steel 2 AKA Batman V.S. Superman plays out.
Only God Forgives I’m going to be honest, I didn’t like the film the first time I saw it. I thought the story and editing was bland and was really disappointed. But, the more I thought about the film, the more I ended up liking it. It’s much better a second time around. Check this out on Netflix when you have a chance.
Kick-Ass 2 I’m really surprised that this movie got all the bad reviews it got. I thought it was a fun comic book movie to see with a group of people. It’s nice to see a superhero movie that’s not serious once in a while.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty I am honestly surprised with some of the reviews this movie got. This movie is honestly one of my favorites from this year. I like the direction in the film, Ben Stiller did good as Walter, and the soundtrack is great.

Cloud Atlas Mega budget art house flick. They do not come along very often and this one is a doozy. Mixing many genres and current affairs through a blockbuster blender strapped to the back of the delorean? Yes please.

The big one for me is Only God Forgives, which I thought was great, but a lot of people were angry about. I also really enjoyed To The Wonder and Spring Breakers. More recently I thought 47 Ronin was pretty fun, not amazing but better then the critics seem to think of it.

A Field in England - It's like Apocalypse Now set in the 17th Century. A Haunting and beautiful film. Europa Report - I liked Prometheus but I got a better Ridley Scott Sci-Fi film in this.

I saw it in the cinema in Feb 2013, that is when it was released in the country I was residing in therefore it is my choice.

The Lone Ranger is my big one. It was trashed, but it isn't anywhere near so bad as some like to say. Only God Forgives does deserve its hate, though. Only the Cinematography and Cliff Martinez do anything worth approaching anybody as Art with that film. Take those away and the rest is shit. Specifically, the rest is schlock, vapid characters, and some godawful dialogue.

Hammer and Depp had zero chemistry, the action was dull, writing was terrible, Depp's terrible portrayal of Tonto, Hammer's terrible portrayal of the Lone Ranger, too long, and the biggest sin of them all, IT WAS BORING AS HELL!
