Well end of the year, so here is the obligatory top games of 2013 thread. Here are mine:
10. Outlast 09. Antichamber 08. Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs 07. Crysis 3 06. Papers, Please 05. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance 04. X Rebirth 03. ARMA 3 02. Grand Theft Auto V 01. Metro: Last Light
This has absolutely been with out a doubt the worst year for gaming within the last 20 years and I challenge any of you to find a worse one.

This has absolutely been with out a doubt the worst year for gaming within the last 20 years and I challenge any of you to find a worse one. I agree wholeheartedly. Anyway, my list as posted from the Spill equivalent of this thread: 1. The Wonderful 101 (The greatest game that no one has ever played. Unique and interesting gameplay, likeable characters, great aesthetic/writing, and ACTUAL DIFFICULTY set this apart from the boring AAA that have been saturating the market these days. A game that actually WANTS to be a video game and revels in this fact, the Wonderful 101 is the most fun I've had with a game in many, many years. It's truly a hidden gem. Bravo Platinum. ) 2. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (The kind of game that the stagnating franchise has been needing for a LONG time) 3. Phoenix Wright: Duel Destinies (Best thing to come out of the long running franchise since Trials and Tribulation, and a glorious transition to 3D to boot. The writing is top notch, and it proves that there's still some life in the traditional adventure game genre.) 4. Grand They Auto V (Nothing too say about this game that hasn't been said. Shame the multiplayer is shit, I might have ranked it higher.) 5. Pokemon X/Y (I've hated how formulaic and stagnant Pokemon has become for years, but these games single handedly proved me wrong about the franchise. Also, the social/multiplayer aspects of the game are absolutely superb.) Honorable mentions: Pikmin 3, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Ducktails Remastered, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Rayman Legends, Super Mario 3D World, Metal Gear Rising: Revengence, and Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch.

Oh shit, I literally haven't played any 2013 game. Still catching up with my backlog. It does look like a pretty sucky year though.

As a pure PC gamer, I'd say last year was actually worse in the sense that more of the big-budget games turned out to be really disappointing. This year, only real disappointment was Remember Me.
01. Saints Row IV 02. Tomb Raider (2013) 03. XCOM: Enemy Within 04. Assassin's Creed IV: The Black Flag 05. Splinter Cell: Blacklist 06. Shadowrun Returns 07. Skullgirls 08. Divinity: Dragon Commander 09. Marvel Heroes 10. Gunpoint

I don't think I've played through one 2013 game full to really say. Um, so far Bioshock infinite is gorgeous on PC? Really, I still need to play Skyrim Legendary Edition. It doesn't say much that - stupid as the Spike VGA thing was and is - Gone Home got PC game of the Year. Just pre-ordered Metal Gear Rising Revengeance for the PC and a little bit of the DMC reboot was very, very favorable to me.
For lack of time to do any "real" gaming, Injustice Gods Among Us Mobile has been my #1 lately because I can play it quickly and it's actually surprisingly well done. And it's free, no less.

DmC: Devil May Cry, to me, tries far too hard; it's fun, but ultimately derivative, and I'd much rather have the original Dante than this new, too-cool-for-school version. It's fun, but ultimately fairly vapid, which was why it didn't make my top 10. I still had fun with it, though, but you can't have fun with things with a lot of things.

I have played a few games this year. . .
I'll say. . .
. . .
Into the Swarm. It's a RTS and I love RTS (Although I've only played like three in the past decade).
I enjoyed Tomb Raider, Bioshock: Infinite, Dead Space 3, and Into the Nexus; but going back and replaying. . . yeah. . .

Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Ico
Shadow of the Colossus
Advanced Wars
these are easily the best games I played in 2013, especially Colossus, I want the next Zelda games overworld to have bosses like these roaming around that you have to kill just to get into the dungeon to fight anothere huge fucker.

Bioshock Infinite is great. Might be the only 2013 game I've played though.

I'm sorry, this is 2013 GOTY, not, "Best game you played this year". I did also mention that i do not prescribe to arbitrary numbers. If I played a game in 2013 it qualifies for game of the year. If you do not want me to post games I played in the year of 2013 then the thread title should be clearer. hashtagpedant
