Call me crazy, But I find nothing redeeming about "The Birth of a Nation" at all. And I don't know why I have to sit through it every time I take a class related to film. If you don't find anything redeeming about it, you should probably just stop caring about narrative feature film---or just filmic form in general since the film basically pioneered aspects of both notions. Call me crazy, but Nolan and Aronofsky among the most boring current filmmakers.

Call me fucking insane but I didn't care too much for Drive. The first 10 minutes were fantastic, the rest was ok but it lost me by the end... bring the hate.

Yes. but do not credited it with the grandeur you do, Europe invented modern cinema and film form. Nolan? Don't care but until I see Hoah (which I have no fucking idea why he chose the project, one can 9only hope he is taking the piss) Aronofsky is the fucking bomb. Somehow reminds me on early Cronenberg...

Somehow reminds me on early Cronenberg... Aspects of both notions. Cross-cutting, parallel action, use of tinting, long-form feature storytelling. I'm not going to pretend Griffith invented the whole thing, but the guy was a master storyteller. America's first great feature filmmaker, and his films were rigorous and groundbreaking. Birth of a Nation is nowhere near his best, but it's certainly his most important. The Russians practically used it and Intolerance as a guide to building structuralist film theory. Europe made better films around the same time (Feuillade>Griffith), but I think it's a tough argument to claim that by 1915 the Europeans had already figured it all out. And for the love of god let's not talk Italian Superspectacle. Those flicks are bores. EDIT: Forgot about Sjostrom! He's dope too, and he precedes Griffith, though I don't think his films are anywhere near as adventurous they're far more poetic.

I've never understood the Nolan hate. I love both filmmakers. I liked both The Prestige and Inception, but the guy is massively overrated. The Batman films in particular, you would think that with so much budget he'd hire someone capable enough to direct some fight choreography. But Jesus Christ are the fights terrible. Constant cutting away, slow awkward movements, and bad shots. Like, we're watching a fucking Batman film here, guys. Can we actually see him fucking punch something for once? What's worse is that they're put in the climax of the movie. Oh wow, Batman's moving like a fucking Tank that can't hit anything for shit and the camera man keeps doing unnecessary cuts, how exciting.

Call me crazy, but The Phantom Menace isn't as bad as people make it out to be. I respectfully advise you to check out Mr. Plinkett's well informed and well presented feelings on the matter, then. Your opinion will change. Call me crazy, but The Walking Dead is a fucking terrible TV Show.

@chucky "Call me crazy, but The Walking Dead is a fucking terrible TV Show." It is a fucking terrible TV Show, and I'm sure many feel the same way. The honest trailer for it on youtube cracks me up with how spot on it is: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNxvo8AcpQQ

Yeah the Walking Dead lost me at the start of season 3. Same shit every week. There were some fantastic moments along the way but there was never the feeling that "I gotta watch this".

I thought the first two episodes were excellent, but from there it was mediocre. The show has many flaws and people will even acknowledge them, but it still gets a pass. Call me crazy but. . . I wasn't crazy about 2001: A Space Odyssey. I understand the movies significance and it gets props, but from an entertainment stand point I was bored.

The honest trailer for it on youtube cracks me up with how spot on it is: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNxvo8AcpQQ*Raises hand* Yup. I swear I could have done a spit-take listening to one of the podcasts where Co-Host/Tony mentioned getting annoyed at people taking light at the "serious" moments of the show during one of those screenings (Drafthouse, maybe). That show is so damn corny and everyone who dies pretty much has earned it several episodes ahead of schedule; the biggest positives are the zombie kills - both ways - and the show is vapid enough to insert whatever theory you want into it. Anyhow, call me crazy, but I'm still scratching my head at how bad Pacific Rim screwed up. I mean, here's a movie that starts off with apocalyptic giant robot vs Kaiju action and then dithers into some adopted daughter/family honor/"Let's do this... together!" bollocks settled by a karate fight for a good chunk of the film's run time. At what point did they forget the giant robot vs kaiju premise during writing?

Momento, The Prestige, Batman Begins -- All great. Simple plot, with characters who evoke an emotional responce. Love 'em. Call me crazy, but... TDK, TDKR & Inception - while all epic in concept (I do love Nolan) - I found those movies boring boring boring!!! Keep in mind... I do really enjoy mentally & emotionally challenging high-concept sci-fi and dark psycological thrillers (Solaris, The Silenced Of The Lambs). Movies can be slow and heart wrenching and tax the mind & heart AND still be awesome -- these last 3 Nolan films JUST MAKE ME BORED AND ANGRY. LOL.

Call me crazy, but The Avengers is overrated beyond belief. Take away any singular aspect that makes it watchable, it becomes a complete piece of shit (which if you ask me are: the dialogue, the performances, the effects).
