I... DID IT. I Skyrimmed. I fuckin' Skyrimmed it up. I braved the CTDs, the papyrus logs, and the ini tweaks to finally SKYRIM!!! FOS RO DAH!!! And it was glorious. Now, I know many will go "see! See! Crashes and crashes and-" I also have over 250 mods, so to be able to play for 20 minutes straight, even if I'm saving every 5 minutes just in case, is madness and amazing and wunderbar. Of particular note I have deadly combat which makes the fighting so much more rewarding than you can imagine! I also installed Deadly Dragons which basically spawned a motherfucking ICE DRAGON right near one of the early quests, so I had to run away like nobody's business just to stay alive. And again, it was amazing! Absolutely brilliant. Dragons are supposed to be fearsome. Bears are supposed to be fearsome. And Skyrim + Mods is FEARSOME!!! On top of that I have several other mods to increase the number of enemies and/or switch up the difficulty such as Skyrim Redone's leveling locales plugin (as well as its race one). Speaking of that early quest, instead of just bum-rushing a bandit camp like an idiot I had to snipe them with a bow and lure them into predicaments serving my favor in spite of their numbers against me. From there I went through a temple ruin with a few more bandits, a giant spider, and draugrs guarding an ancient Nord treasure - a dragon shout I hadn't even unlocked the ability to use yet ha ha! As for my actual character, much of what made it so special to create was a combination of one of the improved Standing Stone mods so they actually seem to matter but more importantly Skyrim Redone's Race plugin and Classical Classes. The latter is positively brilliant, combining some of the best aspects of Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim's character creation in a very refined manner that I definitely recommend. So in my case I chose an Orc Warrior, which mean that in addition to combat specialization as far as skill focus (e.g. smithing, archery, heavy armor, 1 & 2 handed weapons), Classical Classes offers a very fun and unique way to specialize your character further by incorporating the now absent "athletics" and the like through means such as adding additional stamina regeneration buffs, for instance. Last, while you can chopse to just use Standing Stones as your birthsign (which can just be replaced by any Standing Stone mod over the vanilla ones) or you can choose a third era (a.k.a. Morrowind) birthsign. So I know you're thinking "Orc + Warrior Class + Warrior birthsign, duh" but not so fast! With the 3rd era signs you really can customize your playstyle to a much better degree; I went with the Lady to gain a small health boost as well as a bonus to magicka regeneration. Why I bring this up is because going back to that dungeon full of draugrs, well, remember that "Skyrim Redone leveling mod" I mentioned? That dragon shout wasn't guarded by some pushover - we're talking a badass, angry, ol' draugr that very well would have killed anyone even a few levels higher! But again, the combat mods really force you to think rather than just throw your dumb, brute head into the fray. Sometimes you have to retreat, use traps to trick foes, and in my case I literally circled around the ruins and weakened the bastard with lightning and arrows before I could finally kill him... and I repeat: Bloody amazing experience! So there I have it: My game of the year, the decade, the fuckitall until essentially Skyrim on bathsalts gets released... which is definitely not going to be Elder Scrolls Online, because those words don't work together and it's a dumb idea. To be fair, it's Patricia Hernandez on Kotaku. I mean, even if it's legit (can't tell), she's pretty much a blight upon Kotaku, and blogging in general. 'The hell? That kotaku part didn't load until today, so... what is that all about because although I occasionally read Kotaku, I haven't a clue who Ms. P.H. is because I don't really pay attention enough to the writers. In general I find video game "journalists"/bloggers to be so bloody inconsistent and transparently biased or overly opinionated to be of any real significance to me because far too often it's difficult to extract an ounce of credible information from them. Plus, for every interesting piece from Kotaku it seems there are at least two inane photoshop ones to muck it up. On top of that I want to say it was Kotaku that was one of the outfits making a big deal out of GTA's stripper mini game trying to stir up controversy. Okay, GTA gives you lemons and you made a hotdog. "Misogynist" is so misused and has been stretched to cover anything from general anatomical differences to portraying the entire female gender of humanity as asexual puritans to just having a different opinion while having different genitalia than the other person at the same time. And unfortunately this devours so much focus regarding video games as a whole whilst being devoid of any gameplay or even many narrative applications. Real video game misogyny, meanwhile, gets entirely ignored because of the onerous task it would be to actually combat it considering that those same individuals - the prissy cunts hiding behind a mic online - are the ones lining Sony and Microsoft's pockets first and foremost as well. But no, it's 2014 and we're still worried about animated bust sizes that are so absurdly exaggerated as to border mere parody.* No wonder shit never gets done here in the states. +Also, because grown-ass, working adults in a mostly male-dominated industry are going to go out of their way and 1) go out of their way to actively hate women via video game product and 2) say fuck a portion of our potential market-base even though we could lose our jobs in an industry that calls a million sales a failure. *And we're also concerened that some Disney ginger barbie is going to possess young girls into defying the laws of nature and to host bulbous heads atop skeletal frames. Seriously, if you can't teach your kid they're not supposed to look like a plastic fucking toy based off of a cartoon, forget the "sex talk" and worry about the "Smurf talk." --> "sorry honey, there aren't little blue fuckers running about in the wilderness." To be fair, it's Patricia Hernandez on Kotaku. I mean, even if it's legit (can't tell), she's pretty much a blight upon Kotaku, and blogging in general. Is there really anyone on Kotaku that isn't a blight to Kotaku and to gaming journalism in general? These are their actual news, as in deemed worthy enough to report on: Let's not forget about Tim Roger's totally-not-rage-inducing article: kotaku.com/5843886/i-got-my-fashion-sense-from-video-games-and-you-can-tooIs this real? Thank you, I'm glad my shoop was credible enough to be believed real. 'The hell? That kotaku part didn't load until today, so... what is that all about because although I occasionally read Kotaku, I haven't a clue who Ms. P.H. Is this real? Thank you, I'm glad my shoop was credible enough to be believed real. LOL, my dumbass! Then again, knowing Kotaku, it could have very well been a real article, which would be awesome because we could use the free publicity.

Below Is why I can't bloody stand Kotaku sometimes. Such asinine shit they publish, and they do it with a cheery ol' grin no less. Even though the photoshops are somewhat more game related, I think they're also worse in a way because while the non sequitor articles are vapid pieces of click-bait trash, the photoshop contests just highlight 1) how stupid many Kotaku users are and 2) how fucking retarded Kotaku judges of such material are to pick what they do. To be fair, it's Patricia Hernandez on Kotaku. I mean, even if it's legit (can't tell), she's pretty much a blight upon Kotaku, and blogging in general. Is there really anyone on Kotaku that isn't a blight to Kotaku and to gaming journalism in general? That kotaku part didn't load until today, so... what is that all about because although I occasionally read Kotaku, I haven't a clue who Ms. P.H. Just your typical over-sensitive blogger, this should give you a better idea: Oh... THAT. I remember that load of bullshit: "Oh he's talking about rape!" Yeah, because when you put words together they suddenly = rape. It's sooo horrible that everyday female gamers must camouflage themselves in the fascist, male gamer-ruled digital sex dungeon by lowering themselves to playing games, and joking, and having fun! How, oh how do they manage living that way? If she had a dick nobody would have blinked. No wait, if she had a dick the gaming press would be throwing rose flowers at her feet for being a brave transgender gamer because the situation dictates we all point, applaud, and isolate people for being different! Remember kids, equality means treating nobody better than anyone else unless they're different from us! Satirical jibes aside, that "scandal" was such a bloody crockpot of scheisse. "Don't worry, it will be over soon!" No shit, people, that's how time fucking works. It starts. Then it ends. And if you're getting your ass beat in a fighting game, there's a variable that multiples the rate of how this process transpires. I swear, I think oversensitive pussies are fucking up our society and I can't even imagine how bad it's going to be the worse this shit gets. One thing I read on Destructoid that I think sums up what should be the overall video game attitude is something along the lines of "STFUAJPG" - Shut The Fuck Up And Just Play Games. A personal belief/practice of mine that I advise in situations requiring moderation is that if everyone shuts up, nobody is arguing, are they? Humans are only capable of performing one task at a time, with the premise of multi-tasking simply being the speed at which an individual can transition tasks. I point this out because many times it seems people spend too much time talking and less time thinking, resulting in a bunch of contentious bullshit being spouted by so-called (wannabe) journalists and web bloggers. Congratulations! You have a mic and recording equipment/software. Now maybe Shut The Fuck Up And Think Before Speaking. Of course, that would literally destroy Youtube. (which might not be such a bad thing) As admirable a goal it is to try and eliminate all forms of abuse, bullying, name calling, and general playground dickishness, society is often sugar coating things so damn thick that diabetes could be contagious. It feels like Social Hemophilia has gone up 300% and now the general American press feels the "moral duty" to white knight every goddamn instance where one party is not following a Hippie pseudo-Equilibrium societal degree of excessive understanding and hugs. Someone sneezing in the wrong direction might as well be labeled antagonistic at the going rate. And that video of that "incident" goes to prove all of that when something so familiar to gaming as mild, gradeschool level trash talk is being treated like verbal rape.

On a slightly depressing note, since Philip Seymour Hoffman has died, any time one of my actors/actresses have casting approval in my game of Hollywood Movie Studio, they've all refused to allow him to be cast.
Kind of sad, really.

If you're willing to wait, it'll get that deal either during the Spring Break sale or the Summer sale. Yeah, I might just do that and buy a copy for trading while it's on sale this weekend. I can't help but get irked every time I've seen Borderlands 2 on sale because they broke up the DLC so much it's bloody insanity trying to keep up with what's "season 1" and what's "you're on your own, pal." Regarding Steam, does anyone know if Metal Slug 3 is worth it? I pre-ordered (thinking it was just regular purchase) but I'm re-considering saving my money. Any thoughts on it? One game I'm now waiting to go on sale is Castlevania: Lord of Shadows. I own it on PS3, but I don't like playing with that godawful controller ever since I've spoiled myself using my 360 controller with the PC. Plus, and this is from first-hand experience, the aliasing is so damn annoying on the console version that I'd advise you just stick with the PC glory if you are interested in the title. But what led me to re-kindle my interest in the game for PC was that I have been looking for a good Legend of Zelda void-filler beyond just downloading a ROM, and after watching a gameplay video of the upcoming sequel I realized that C:LoS is a wonderful game for such a game craving. For a hack and slash it has very fun gameplay that mixes things up and doesn't devolve into senseless button mashing, coming from someone who is not a hack and slash expert by any means whatsoever. As for what I'm playing - Skyrim still of course! - but I also was looking into a few Sweetfx additions to some of my PC titles like Alice Madness Returns and Dishonoured. Along with Sweetfx, I installed some mods for The Witcher a few days ago that I've yet to try out first hand for lack of time. Skryim has been almost too much fun to believe, though. The CTDs actually feel like a break from the amount of fun I've been having, although I've managed to get my game to run generally smooth and the papyrus logs seem to indicate more or less random errors that I might even be able to (or be forced to) resolve if they get worse.

Just get a refund, and pick it back up when it gets a 25-75% discount in 4-6 months. Way ahead of you - I looked at that price again after reevaluating and scoffed at the idea when it could go towards a much better game. And after finally finding some decent reviews, Metal Slug sounds like it's more of a pain in the ass than it's worth when there's seemingly an infinite amount of flash versions as it is. I know people love their nostalgia, but you can't beat having a third dimension to, y'know, not die? Plus even at its higher-than-could-be rate, Borderlands 2 is still a lot more game (and a lot less death screen). Also, I found this news to be a gas: Rust Takes Bold Step To Be 0.5% More Original And Remove's ZombiesGuilty. Caption is mine heh heh. Of particular note, I read this earlier but forgot the game's name so I typed in "DayZ removes zombies" into the search by accident but that still came up. These types of games make me feel old/anti-social/something (which is really weird because I'm not the first two at least...) because I seriously don't get the recent infatuation with all these games that just seem to serve as a reminder that people can be dicks as per walking dead; anonymous people can be fucking royal assholes as per internet connection and zero accountability, with or without zombies. I dunno, I guess between all of the collective development time, energy, expenses, ect. devoted to all these zed and/or survival games, those involved could have camped out in a tent in their back yard for a night to have some time to think of something else. Besides, what do all these games have in common? Study Finds Day Z, Rust, Others Contain 100% Less Meat and Marsmallowy Goodness* *And 100% less chance of live bear attack

Aren't you running any utilities to handle those? BOSS is a big help, mod load order CAN make or break your game, make sure you got TESEdit loaded up as well so you can make a merged patch to help mods understand each other more. Depending on how big your mod list is now you might need the 4gb unlocker. I haven't touched Skyrim for a while, but I think there was a major breakthrough with the ENB's that allowed the game to run really intensive mods smoothly (or those with a big mod list).

I do the the first half, but from what I've read Skyrim (updated) shouldn't need a 4gb unlocker anymore. For the record, I also tried to avoid any mods that had insane textures like the 4k and what not resolutions that don't even bloody make sense to install with a game as touchy as Skyrim in the first place. Unfortunately, and this is where it gets more complicated, is that I've started a character and judging from the papyrus logs the crashes seem to be just random events caused by scripts randomly. I've mostly stabilized everything and I have an idea or two if need be, but it seems to be mainly: Warzones: Civil War - my recommendation is not even bother with this mod, but - but! I might be able to deactivate most of the warzones through the console (the code to do so is in the readme) so if, say, there's an issue going on in Whiterun I can check the log if it CTDs, load up, and safely just deactivate the fucker without removing the mod and introducing a whole mess of issues. Blood - Either Enhanced blood (which I didn't install) or the other big one I can't even remember (that I did install) seem to have issues. I reduced them quite a bit by changing an ini setting, but they're still occasional problems. Again though, the main problem is that it's a script deal that can cause worse effects if you just remove it mid-game and try to play like it's no big deal. Goddamn scripts... Between these two, despite what anyone says read the latest reviews because apparently these can be rather problematic, especially Warzones which is sadly a real cunt to deal with. It's as though every review I read before I started was glowing, and now if I even think of the abbreviation "CTD" that bastard mod pops into my conscious to shit on my parade. Just avoid it and stick with Immersive Patrols and Civil Wars. However, regarding the ENB thing, is this what you were talking about: www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50305/?I just found it today so I haven't had time to look into it much yet, honestly. If you meant ENBboost, I believe the ENB I'm using (Realvision performance) already has it incorporated. My last big break the other day was looking into this: www.darkcreations.org/forums/topic/3752-skse-cleans-invalid-scripts-from-old-mods/I'm still a bit iffy because I want to make sure that this fix would cover removing a script mod and continuing (I have the latest SKSE), but if it's not those two mods it seems to be just a random fluke; e.g. some lantern handler issue or my guess a fluke ugrid loading deal. Speaking of which, do you know about this: www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/41592/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D41592%26preview%3D&pUp=1Just curious, do you think it should be fine to just throw into my data/skse/plugins folder if it's just a .dll file? I would assume so, but I'd appreciate a second opinion on that one as well. I'm running a reproccer, bash patch, and merged list so I honestly want to avoid undoing then redoing things if I can until I'm pretty certain it won't cause a mess later. As for Skyrim itself, I gotta add that this game reminds me why I fell in love with Morrowind: It awakens the inner clepto in you without fail. I'm playing a morally ambiguous Orc warrior... and I had to join the thieves guild just so I could access a fence to pawn off all the Honningbrew mead I ganked ha ha! But if you want any advice on newly released mods (which is nonstop!) I did quite a bit of research, hence the massive mod amount, so feel free to ask. Just recently Dawn of Riften was released, which along with the other two Dawn of city mods (Windhelm and Whiterun), is positively brilliant. It feels completely natural but makes a city like Whiterun seem so real. The game itself is just gorgeous and I can't help but stare at how amazing it looks. I know Skyrim Redone has been getting tons of positive word of mouth lately, but I went with SPERG (+Deadly Combat and a few Skyrim Redone Optional Plugins like Races and the Leveled world for a better challenge) so the game is a bit more like vanilla but expanded. Best of all though is the risk/reward factor that makes it such a challenging experience that pays off so well in how you feel. I set the community uncapper ini tweak to be pretty high, and believe me, with my setup I'll need it with the challenges ahead, but overall I can't complain because crashes and all I feel that I created my own customized Skyrim experience that I fell in love with. I'll admit it was a ton of work to research the mods, but I highly recommend anyone who wants to even get back into Skyrim do so because a lot has changed, mods have gone unsupported *cough Warzones* and so far - holy shit, is that a bear wearing armor and drinking mead in Riften? That I can recruit?!? Okay, Skyrim, You got me. You bloody got my heart.
